Toxic Stress

Being under constant stress (like when we're always getting yelled at) damages the brain.

When we feel threatened, our body gets us ready to handle the threat...fight or flight. If we are constantly feeling threatened, our body never gets to calm down. Getting stressed once in a while, like when we have to get something done fast, doesn't cause any trouble. But if this happens all the time, our bodies get into trouble...this is called toxic stress.
